Kleine Zeitung, Die Presse, WirtschaftsBlatt and 24sata celebrate a total of ten awards.
At the annual summit of Europe’s top names in newsprint, the European Newspaper Congress in Vienna, the European Newspaper Awards were presented again this year on what was now the 17th occasion. Some 196 newspapers from 26 countries faced up to the critical gaze of a distinguished international jury. From amongst all the submissions, the best projects and productions are honoured in 20 categories. Styria’s daily papers had a level of success that certainly bears scrutiny:
The Kleine Zeitung can celebrate a total of five awards. Prizes were conferred on the Kleine Zeitung for the Kleine Kinderzeitung, the title page and cover of June 28th (“Graz sind wir”, composed after the madman driving rampage in Graz), the magazine for the “Erster Weltkrieg” [First World War] series and the series on the Second World War (the latter gaining two Awards of Excellence).
An award also went to Die Presse for the first issue of the series “Presse Geschichte” in the category “Concept / Innovation print”.
Furthermore, also WirtschaftsBlatt deluxe got awarded. As only Austrian brand it received two awards in the category “Magazine”.
Our Croatian daily 24sata was honoured twice with prestigious awards. In the category “Best Cover and Coverstory / Nationwide Newspaper”, it was the title page of April 16th 2015 (effects of the EU ultimatum on Croatian citizens) that convinced the jury. Two headlines from the Panorama insert from 27/2015 and 04/02/2015 won a joint prize in the category “Sectional Front Pages / Nationwide Newspaper”.
The European Newspaper Congress and presentation of the Awards of Excellence are organised by newspaper designer Norbert Küpper.
